Discovering a bit more about Ju-Jitsu

A martial art with many variations, the ancient Japanese sport of Ju-jitsu was brought to the West by Karate master Morihei Ueshiba, who founded the Universal Peace Federation in 1917. It is a self-defense system that incorporates various techniques from many different disciplines of traditional Japanese martial arts, including Shotokan karate and judo. Today, Ju-jitsu can be used as either an offensive or defensive method to defeat or subdue unarmed or weaponless attackers or to subdue any opponent.

A subset of many martial arts

A subset of many of the techniques of some other traditional Japanese martial art were borrowed from other styles of Japanese martial art, including Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, Sambo, Brazilian jiu-Jitsu and even mixed martial arts such as Brazilian jiu-Jitsu and judo. However, these martial arts were not designed to use on a regular basis against an opponent.

Ju-jitsu can be practiced either as a self-defense technique or as a martial art for sport. It has been considered as a sport for over five hundred years. This martial art is known to be one of the world’s oldest and still one of the most popular competitive sports today. Ju-Jitsu can be used either in an offensive or defensive way to defeat or subdue one armed or weaponless opponent or multiple opponent. Certain subsets of this martial art were adapted to produce the mixed martial art and street combative sports, such as MMA, Judo, Brazilian jiu-Jitsu, Sambo and other forms of mixed martial art. The modern version of Ju-Jitsu is much different than what was practiced during the time of its origins. The original method of training involved grappling and striking with the feet.

Traditional ju-jitsu, sometimes known as “The Way of the Intercept”, was developed by the founder of Judo. Karate Master Ueshiba discovered it when he was studying Judo at university. It was originally practiced as a military art and it was adapted to be more accessible for the common man. Initially, the basic moves of ju-jitsu included: joint locking, foot licking, leg locking, arm locking, elbow locking, and neck locking. These are very versatile moves which can be applied to a wide range of different combat situations.

The basic purpose of this martial art is to control and eliminate the threat of an opponent. It teaches a person to use the body in unique ways to attack and defend. Some of its moves include but are not limited to, throwing an opponent to the ground with an armbar, pinning him to the ground with an armbarrel choke, taking his back and using the rear naked choke (or the arm bar), shoving and/kicking him to the ground and finally pinning him by the waist and placing him in the mount position of the rear naked choke.

In the begging: all about self defense

In the beginning, ju-jitsu was primarily used as a means of self defense. However, it is also a very proficient martial art in many sports that are geared towards competitions. This martial art is particularly useful in competitions because it will teach a person to apply various grappling techniques in order to gain the advantage over his or her opponents. Because it is a competitive sport, many of the fighters at the tournament level will often use the various grappling methods learned during practice. In addition to gaining advantages over their opponents, ju-jitsu fighters will also learn about the correct use of the various submission holds and throws.

As with all martial arts, the use of self-defense tactics must always be accompanied by self-defense techniques, so learning to defend yourself should be practiced with this martial art. If you are involved in any physical contact with an attacker, whether that be on the street or at a competition, it is important that you have a good knowledge of both. a solid knowledge of the rules of self-defense and the correct use of weapons as well. is important to have a good knowledge of the appropriate martial arts stance and movements. The more competent a person is at using the various weapons, the better prepared he or she is to defend himself or herself when faced with an assailant.

Self-defense training can never be complete without including an understanding of and experience with various martial arts weapons. By combining these martial arts tools, a person can become a very effective defender against an attacker.
